GOLD RUSH ARE CHAMPIONS
The Heritage Gold Rush claimed the California Youth Soccer League District IV Under 10 Girls Gold Class III Championship on November 6, with a 2-1 victory over the Delta Storm. The Gold Rush found themselves trailing 1-0 at half time but were able to score two second-half goals to claim the championship. Their final league record was 6 wins, 1 loss and 3 ties. They outscored their opponents 17 to 6. For the season the Gold Rush won 17 games, while only losing 2 and tying 5. They scored a total of 52 goals while allowing 13.

The defense was the strength of this year's team, allowing only 13 goals in 24 games. The defense also never allowed more than 1 goal in any game. The goalkeepers (Mary Kennon and Brianna Rosselli) played very well all year long. Both showed great improvement and came up with key saves while combining for 11 shutouts. Evelyn Langsdale, Larissa Rodrigues and Laura McDonagh anchored the defense. All three played very consistently all year long and could always be counted on to provide a solid defensive effort. The mid-field included Jamie Merjano, Pilar Souder and Cami Vereschagin. All three contributed both offensively (combining for 13 goals) and defensively. The forward line included Allison Dick, Katherine Tottle and Kenna Kersevan. The three played very well all year long and scored a total of 35 goals. All the girls continued to show improvement in their skill level as well as their understanding of the game. They truly played as a team, displaying good sportsmanship to their opponents and each other. Coaches Jim Dick and Steve Kersevan were both extremely satisfied and proud of the team effort and success.

HERITAGE HAMMERS WIN U-11 BOYS CLASS ONE SILVER DIVISION
This past weekend the Hammers completed a successful League season by winning their last two games to win the CYSA Silver Division for Under 11 Boys. Although only a first year team the Hammers have played some excellent soccer. They have played to date 42 games and have been unbeaten in 34 games winning 27 times. On Saturday they defeated Delta 4-0 which meant that Sundays game against the MDSL Earthquakes was for the league championship. MDSL was undefeated and needed only a tie to win the league. They had previously beaten the Hammers 4-3, so a close contest was expected.

The last several games of the season the Hammers had started slowly, but on a cold, crisp day the boys game out strong. Right from the start the midfield and forwards interchanged with good passes and several opportunities were created. Then, with mounting pressure on the Earthquakes' goal, the Hammers got their first breakthrough. Several shots went in on the goal and in the ensuing goalmouth scramble Ben Jamison-Lambourne was on hand to score. Then almost immediately afterwards a good pass from Tony Ochea allowed Lambourne to break free and take on the central defense. He did so and placed a shot outside the reach of the goalkeeper to provide Hammers with a 2-0 lead. However MDSL, relying on the long ball, continued to fight back and were awarded a debatable penalty. It was missed and the Hammers then played out the half. In the second half the Hammer came out fast again and almost immediately an attack developed down the right side. An excellent pass from Tyler Handy to Jerry Cruz lead to a hard and low cross and again Ben Lambourne was on hand to steer in his third goal of the match. MDSL continued to play good soccer and after a period in which they had sustained pressure another penalty was awarded which was converted to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

However the Hammers were not to be denied. They continued to attack and a breathtaking dribbling run and shot from Bo Hunter was only denied by a spectacular save. The game ended with a score of 3-1 and a Hammers team with its defense anchored by Michael Casatico and Nate Ransom ,(playing his last game for the Hammer before moving to Southern California) had a thoroughly deserving victory and championship.

CONGRATULATIONS HAVOC, STING, STRIKERS, HAMMERS AND GOLD RUSH. WE ARE PROUD TO CALL YOU CHAMPIONS!
Well, believe it not we have come to the end of the League season and as you take a break for Thanksgiving before preparing for Association Cup, US Cup and the State Cup, let's give thanks for a great year of soccer. I am very proud to announce that with the final games played this Sunday, Heritage has just completed its most successful season as a club and we have now improved each year in regards to the number of Divisional Winners we have had.

Last weekend our Under 10 Girls Gold Rush completed their season with a victory which meant a first place finish as the Under 10 Class Three Gold Champions. They had six victories and three ties and only suffered one defeat. Congratulations to Coaches Jim and Steve who have done a terrific job teaching and coaching these young girls this year.

Also last weekend both our Boys and Girls Under 19 teams won their respective divisions. The Havoc, our Under 19 Boys, won the Class One Silver Division. They won six games and had two ties with only two defeats. The majority of Havoc will now be playing soccer at high school and then next year will be heading to college. Good way to wrap up your Club career. Congratulations Coach Paul Murray and the boys.

The Sting, our Under 19 Girls, completed their 2004 campaign as Champions of the Class Three Silver Division. They need a special word for the fact that ended the season UNDEFEATED with only one tie to tarnish what would have been a perfect season. This team unfortunately has also completed its last season for Heritage. The majority of the girls will keep on playing though at their respective high schools and we wish them all well for the future. Congratulations Coaches Bob and Miles. Good luck ladies for the future.

Today was the last day of the season and Heritage finished it in style with both the Hammers and Strikers winning their respective divisions by winning their last games against the only other teams that could win their respective leagues. Our Under 13 Strikers traveled to Bay Oaks where they outplayed their opponents in a thoroughly deserving 2-0 victory. I had the pleasure of watching this game and must comment on the excellent organization and effort of the girls. This victory meant they ended their league season as victors of the Class One Silver Division with Nine victories, one tie and the one solitary loss which it should be noted was on the first game of the season. Great job by Ron Edson and Jeff Nelson. Good luck in Gold next year.

Earlier this morning the Hammers our Under 11 Boys also won their Silver division. They also traveled away and defeated the MDSL Earthquakes 3-1. This victory followed a 4-0 win on Saturday against Delta which moved the boys from 4th to first to win the division by a point. Hammers finished their league season with seven victories, one tie and two losses.

Well done to all the children and young adults involved in winning these championships.

In addition to the Club's Championship winners, we had two teams who just missed out with second place finishes and three teams who ended their seasons strong to finish 3rd.

Vendetta, our Under 16 girls, completed a 7-1-2 season to take second in the Under 16 Silver division and our youngest Girls team started off their many years of Club soccer with a second place finish in the Under 10 Silver division. Their final record was seven wins, two ties and a single loss. Well done to Angie and Lewis for the Vendetta and also to Ken and Robert for the Swarm.

Freedom (U16), Heat (U14) and Falcons (U13) were the teams that took third. Falcons missed out on a top two finish in a tough Under 13 Class One Silver division despite winning eight games and having only two losses. Well done to Adesh and Francisco. The Heat finished third in the Class One Under 14 Silver division with a 4-2-4 record. This team fought injuries all year and had a very satisfying season. They were really playing well as the League campaign ended. Good Job to Jenny and our President. Freedom also played in the Under 16 Class Three Silver division and they ended up third with a real strong run of victories at the end of the season. Their final record was 4-2-4 .Good job ladies.

All of teams played well this season and I know having seen all the teams play that every team improved and even those that suffered more defeats than victories hopefully found the club experience a rewarding one. All of our teams completed their playing schedule and in total we competed in 232 games. The Club had a winning season with tying or winning 60% of our games. The ladies led the way with 61 victories and 29 ties out of 132 games with the boys winning 36 games and tying 11 out of 100 games.

Enjoy your brief rest. Good luck with the Cups, get out and support your high schools and wear your Heritage gear with pride. We have placed a lot of young men and women on the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams at Alhambra and College Park and have other players representing other high schools. I am personally aware of eight Heritage players who will represent their Varsity team at Alhambra and another ten who will be playing Junior Varsity.

As soon as I get the lists from College Park and Paul Murray at Alhambra I will share with you all the kids you need to get out and cheer for this year.

Many thanks to the parents for allowing us to coach your kids this year. I hope they enjoyed it and as normal there are not enough thanks for the hours of effort and dedication my fellow coaches have put in this year SO FAR. As far as I am concerned all the kids that played this year are champions and deserve praise for their commitment to practice and involvement in the Club.

Stay Tuned. More SOCCER TO PLAY.

See you on the field,

Beege
Coaching Director
